Getting out of the comfort zone, leaving everyday life behind and enjoying the good things. I wanted to get outta here right after high school. But I always had good job offers I couldn’t resist. Because of my ambitions I decided to stay in Germany. But now I have the possibility to get a free time slot. And while you’re reading this post I will already be at the airport and leaving for Australia. I’m flying alone. My plan is to travel, improve my English (I know it is very "german" ;-), get many impressions and let you guys be part of this adventure – you will regularly get updates via Snapchat (vickywanka), Instagram and my blog vickywanka.com.
Do not miss to visit my new travel category. Here you can easily see my travel experiences categorized by single destinations. I hope you will enjoy three months in OZ with me.
For my German followers I have six to dos you should think about before you fly to Australia. These points are applied to Germany, so I just have a small sum up for my international readers – for you.
FIRST: MAKE A WISH!
First I want you to be a big part of my journey! Just share your wish with me: Is there somebody you want me to visit for you, some cool insider restaurant or a special place you want me to go to? Here is the chance! I will travel from Melbourne up the east coast to Brisbane. Probably I will go to the west coast as well. Is there something you want me to do? Or some special thing you want me to buy and send it to you (because there are some things you can only get in Australia)? Let me know and I will make some of your wishes come true.
TO DO AUSTRALIA - ASK YOURSELF:
1. WHAT KIND OF VISA DO I NEED?
There are different kind of visa. I decided to travel three months, so I just need a tourist visa, officially called „eVisitor (Subclass 651)“
For the Subclass 651 and other Visa, click here.
Get to the site of the Australien Government for more information.
2. DO I NEED VACCINATIONS?
I didn’t fresh up my vaccinations, because I already have done this two years ago. In Germany there are some you can easily fresh up. But for european travellers there is no regulation for it.
3. WHAT KIND OF PASSPORT DO I NEED?
You need your international passport to travel to Australia. It should be valid as long as you’re travelling. An international driver lisence can be helpful if you want to rent a car.
4. DO I NEED A SPECIAL HEALTH CARE?
In Germany the most of us need a special health care for the time in another country. I am sure you will find special offers in your country. Think about the fact that most insurances want the special health care to be paid before the trip.
5. IS THERE A FREE CREDIT CARD?
Yes, in Germany there are possibilities to get free credit cards. The same here: Just search for special offers in your country.
6. WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK FOR THREE MONTHS?
This question is pretty hard to answer. My personal solution is: I don’t want my suitcase to be overload, because there will be many shopping possibilities. Additionally I found a way to pack my luggage: I created different categories and for each category I packed round about three pieces:
- Pants (Shorts and long pants)
- Shirts: here I take some more pieces, because I change them more often then other things
- Pants etc.
- Swimwear: Bikini, swimsuit, towel
- Cosmetic stuff: Shampoo, creams
- Technology: Charger, laptop, camera, adapter for the power outlet
- Underwear (much more than three pieces)
